Richard Tula is CEO and Co-founder of Biodirect Inc.

Mr. Tula is a biomedical engineer with degrees from the Community College of the Air force, Colorado Community College, and Pierce College. He also has an extensive background in mechanical engineering, product development & design, technology assessments, asset/risk management, and technical support processes. His career includes 22 years’ experience with federal agencies as well as biotech, pharma and medical business markets. Mr. Tula has also written technical papers & reviews on various laboratory related technologies and has given talks on the subject of asset management, technology risk & lifecycle management, lab management & workflow efficiency, and cost-effective service & maintenance strategies for a modern lab, and facility security.
Prior to founding Biodirect in 2002, Mr. Tula was a managing partner at Biomatic Technologies Inc. (BTI), where he developed the key “one source” business model. BTI was acquired by Perkin Elmer in 2005. Prior to BTI, Mr. Tula was the International Marketing Manager for Comdisco’s Lab & Scientific Group (CLSG), a publicly traded Fortune 500 company.

Mr. Tula volunteers his time working with inner city kids helping them with personal growth and education. He is also establishing educational initiatives by donating a start-up molecular biology lab for high schools. Mr. Tula is also an avid proponent of environmentally-friendly “green” building technology. He is currently building a highly energy-efficient LEED certified home which incorporates many of the latest technologies in solar, geo-thermal, ICF/CIP, & radiant heating and he is also working with a local & state level politicians to establish tax-saving initiatives for new “green” construction.

 

 

Francine Tula is CFO and Co-founder Biodirect in 2002.

Prior to Biodirect she managed a design and consulting firm. Francine is an accredited interior designer with more than 9 years experience in workflow dynamics and workspace optimization in residential and industrial interior design.

Francine also volunteers her time working for women’s causes involving underprivileged women and to establishing and funding programs that advance personal growth, education, and instilling an entrepreneurial spirit and self-empowerment. Her philanthropic programs support health-related initiatives and funding of fresh water well drilling and sanitation projects in several African countries.

Ms. Tula is an avid proponent of “green” technology. She is currently constructing a highly energy efficient, LEED-certified home that incorporates the latest technologies including solar light tubes and skylights, geo-thermal, ICF/CIP, Lyptus® hardwood products from Brazilian sustainable forest plantations, wool rather than synthetic carpeting and radiant heating. She is also working with the developer of Biodirect’s new corporate headquarters and warehouse facility currently under construction to utilize “green” technology, such as solar energy technology and she is designing the office layout and interior design.
